About

About The Food Allergy Lab

Independent, plain-English guides for anyone reading food labels to avoid an allergen.

The Food Allergy Lab exists to make one everyday task less stressful: working out whether a packaged food is safe for you or your family. Ingredient panels are dense, allergens travel under names most people do not recognise, and the same product can change recipe without warning. We write clear, well-sourced guides that help you read labels faster and shop with more confidence.

We focus on the practical: how to read a label, the hidden names to watch, what to check on a new product, and how to keep the rules consistent across a household. We are independent and we do not push any single brand.

A note on what this is, and is not

This is educational information, not medical advice. If you have or suspect a food allergy, please speak to a GP, allergist or dietitian. Labels and recipes change, so always check the ingredients on the product itself.

Our sister project

The Food Allergy Lab is a sister of ClearaScan, a personal ingredient guard that checks products against your own allergen list. ClearaScan is in early access.

Disclosure. The Food Allergy Lab is part of the same small team behind ClearaScan. We link to it where it is genuinely useful, and our guides stand on their own either way.
